As farmers we understand that irrigation can be a challenge, that’s why it’s best to get some input from someone that has lived it. From delivery, to ponds, sumps and pumps, filters, mainlines, to wheel lines, pivots and underground systems, we can help you through the process to help simplify and irrigate efficiently.

Is it time to redo that old bumpy field or pasture, with all the rodent mounds, weeds and old mix of grasses that don’t really produce that well. It can definitely be a process to getting it to the nice fields/pastures you see when driving down the road. So here are some tips and practices I use when starting a field project.
#1 is rodent control, there is no reason to put all the time and money into a new field if the rodents are going to destroy it in 2-3 years.
I recommended using all the tools available, from using a verminator and doing the whole field as a base line. Spot poisoning, trapping, gassing or flooding. Also tilling/discing before and during winter.
#2 Spraying, I know that can be a bad word to some, but wether it’s a herbicide or Roundup there is a time a place where these tools can make the difference in making a strong long lasting field where they won’t need to be used for years to come.
Lots of people get hung up on the weeds and killing everything before they start the tilling. But the weeds are going to be there, no matter if it was a super clean or a fallow field for years. The weeds are coming, the minute you start disturbing the soil, the weeds are coming.
At this stage I’m more concerned with the grasses that are already there, bluegrasses, crabgrass and other grasses that creep into a field that are hard to remove after youve seeded.
